What to Expect on Sunday

Sherrod Avenue is a church filled with everyday people.  We have between 400-500 in attendance, consisting of senior citizens, college students, young families, middle age folks, teenagers, little children, and brother Edmund who is about to turn 99!  You will find that all of these people, regardless of their differences, really enjoy one another.  In fact, it is often difficult to get our services started because the "meet n' greet" (a few moments devoted to meeting visitors and shaking hands) is difficult to wind down.  Our people just love to be together.

For most of us, our Sunday worship is the highlight of our week.  It is a time to fellowship together and have our "spiritual batteries recharged."  We sing together, pray together, and partake of the Communion to remember Jesus' awesome sacrifice on our behalf.  We take the opportunity to give back and are encouraged by a message from the Bible.  Really, what we do is very simple, as our intent is simply to connect to God and one another.

We meet at 1207 Sherrod Avenue in Florence Alabama.  The building is a truly special blend of nostalgia for the past and modern functionality.  Our auditorium is the original structure build in 1925 that has been updated and expanded many times through the years.  It has a very "classical" look with tall white columns, beautiful stained glass window art, and balcony seating.  Moving out of the auditorium we have a new education wing and life center built in 2000.  It features many large classrooms, staff offices, a "fireside" meeting room, and a full gymnasium/fellowship hall.

We hope you will come and visit us soon.  Visitors are always welcome.  A person can never have enough friends, and we hope to become friends with you as we introduce you to the greatest friend in our lives - Jesus!
